Jurong Singapore

Jurong Singapore is a man made Island located to South West of the main Island of Singapore. Jurong Singapore is a huge industrial area and the main power house of Singapore's economy. With a number of Industrial estates Jurong has been formed by amalgamating several offshore islands primarily the seven main islands of Pulau Ayer Chawan, Pulau Ayer Merbau, Pulau Merlimau, Pulau Pesek, Pulau Pesek Kecil, Pulau Sakra and Pulau Seraya. The reclamation work is still continuing, once the work is over Jurong Singapore will constitute a land area of about 32 Kilometers from an initial area of less than 10 Kilometers

Jurong Singapore is linked to the main Island of Singapore by a causeway which is 2.3 Kilometers in length and is called the Jurong Island Highway. However, access to the Jurong Island is restricted and one needs to have a Jurong Island Security Pass before entering the Island and carrying of any photographic equipment is also restricted.

Jurong Singapore Island is a self sufficient Island and has all the important amenities that are required. These include the fire station, and an amenity center known as Oasis Sakra that houses a food court and a medical clinic. Jurong Singapore also has beautiful bird park which is home to 9,000 colorful birds of 600 species. These exciting exhibits are worth a visit.
