Seychelles Folklore is the knowledge that is passed on from one generation to the other in Seychelles. The tradition of orally singing songs and ballads of martyrs is still a trend amongst the ethnic groups in Seychelles. Lofty personalities like Kader and Bro Zako have sung songs of lament that highlights upon the troubles of living. There are many superstitious beliefs that are transferred from one generation to the other through these folklores since the ancient times. Fables and stories that revolved around general superstitions were the actual content of these native folklores. The tradition of folklore in Seychelles is taken up by many modern restaurants in Seychelles in order to increase the publicity of their respective restaurant. The folklore of Seychelles is a combination of wide variety of European, Arabian and Chinese mythological elements. The native community that dwelled in Seychelles namely the ‘Kreoles’ believed staunchly in the existence of these fables and superstitions and there are written books and many other evidences stored in the national archives of Seychelles, which proves this to be true. There are many well-known mythical stories and fables, which made the most of the Seychelles culture and entertainment at the time when inventions like television and computers, were unknown to the people.
