Formation of Republic of Serbia Republic of Serbia, the official name of Serbia, gained independence on 11th of April, 1992. But even after Serbia's independence, it remained a part of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
On 4th of February, 2003, Federal Republic of Yugoslavia established the Union of Serbia and Montenegro by adopting a charter. Montenegro declared itself as an independent and sovereign state in the year 2006.
This automatically established Serbia as a sovereign state because it was in union with Montenegro. This led to the formation of the Republic of Serbia.

The Legislature of Serbia is unicameral by its nature. The Government of the Republic of Serbia was elected by the unicameral legislature of Serbia, which consists of consists of 250 members and is headed by the Prime Minister.
The present President of Serbia is Boris Tadic and the Prime Minister of Serbia is Vojislav Kostunica.
Other important members of the Government of the Republic of Serbia are Bozidar Djelic, who is the deputy Minister, Zoran Loncar, Vojislav Brajovic and Aleksandra Smiljanic.
