Serbia was known as the Kingdom of Serbia from 1882 to 1918, before which it was under the Turkish or the Ottoman rule. The Kingdom of Serbia was granted complete autonomy by the Ottoman government in 1830. The Ottoman empire had to deal with crisis in its internal affairs of the state. The fight of the Serbs against the Turks was political as well as social. After the Kingdom of Serbia gained autonomy the church of Serbia became free and Milos became the hereditary prince. He tried to implement certain programs to reform the domestic conditions of the Kingdom of Serbia. His sons played big parts in controlling the Kingdom of Serbia. In 1842 the family of Karageorgevic became quite powerful and later there were several clashes between the 2 dynasties.
Kingdom of Serbia Events
During the Magyar Revolution that took place between 1848 and 1849, the Serbs residing in Austria were rewarded with the new Vojvodina that was semi-autonomous, but it was abolished later on. After Serbia obtained the title of the Kingdom of Serbia, it achieved the status of being one of the many European states. During this phase, the Kingdom of Serbia had seen many developments in the fields of politics, commerce and other important activities.
Many important political events took place with the formation of the Kingdom of Serbia and that period was a milestone in the Serbia history.
