Aberdeenshire

One of the military unitary committees of Scotland is Aberdeenshire. In 1996 the Aberdeenshire Council was set up. The Scottish regions were abolished after this.There are nearly 68 councilors. Presently it comprises of independent, conservative, Scottish National and Liberal Democratic Party.

Aberdeenshire council exercises power in Marr, Kincardine, Mearns, Formartine, Garioch, and Banff and Buchan area committees.

Aberdeenshire Attractions

Balmoral Castle is a big manor house located in Aberdeenshire. Prince Albert bought it and it is still a royal residence in summer. The estate of Balmoral went under many generations and today it is the bread earner of 150 employees.

Crathes Castle is very near to Banchory. Burnetts of Leys built it and their families looked after it for 400 years. The National Trust for Scotland owns the castles and grounds of the castle. Presently it has become a tourist destination.

Drum Castle is located near Banchory. It is assumed that the tower of Drum Castle is the work of Richard Cementarius.

The River Dee is a beautiful river which starts its journey from the Cairngorms and finishes its journey at North Sea. The riverside area has beautiful orchards of pine woods and birchwoods. There are broadleaved woods and meadow grasslands which enhance the beauty of the place.

Aberdeenshire is famous for its natural beauty.
