Looqemat



Looqemat is the Saudi Arabian name for sweet dumplings. This is one of the favorite sweet dish recipes of Saudi Arabia. The method of preparing the dish is not at all tough.
Looqemat is to be served hot. A list of the main ingredients for Looqemat is given below.

Ingredients for Looqemat
  • White flour: 3 cups
  • Yogurt: ⅔ cup
  • Onions (medium sized): 3
  • Yeast with sugar: 2 teaspoons
  • Chopped parsley: ½ bundle
  • Warm water: ½ cup
  • Ground black pepper: 1 teaspoon
  • Mixed spices: 1 teaspoon
  • Salt
  • Oil
To prepare Looqemat, a Saudi Arabian dessert, first a thick batter is to be prepared by mixing yogurt, water and salt with flour. This batter is to be kept aside for about six hours. Now, yeast with a little amount of sugar is to be mixed with warm water. One has to wait till it ferments. Then the yeast is to be added and mixed well to the already prepared batter. After mixing, the batter is to be kept for near about three hours.

Then the batter is to be shaped into small balls and put to fry into heated oil in a pan. The balls have to be deep fried till they turn golden brown. It is to be noted, that while frying the balls, they should be fully covered with oil in the pan. When frying is complete, the dumplings are to be soaked into sugar syrup. Now Looqemat is ready to be served.
