Legislature of Saudi Arabia

Legislature of Saudi Arabia is carried out by a body of administration, known by the name of the Consultative Assembly of Saudi Arabia. This body presently consists of one hundred and fifty members and all of them are appointed by the King of Saudi Arabia. They work for a term of four years and constitute a vital wing of the Parliament of Saudi Arabia.

This Saudi Arabia Consultative Body is also known by the names of Shura council as well as the Majlis-as Shurah Council. This Consultative body forms a unicameral legislature, that is to say there is just one house that comprises the decision of the Saudi Arabia Shura council. This council is presently based in the Al-Yamamh Palace of Riyadh. Significantly, no woman has yet been appointed to function in this Consultative assembly.

This Saudi Arabia Consultative Assembly, which is a substitute of the legislature of Saudi Arabia, was established by King Fahd in the year 1992. It was then a sixty member assembly. Later, the Saudi Arabia Consultative Assembly was expanded first in 1997 and again in 2001. In the year 2003, this Consultative Assembly of Saudi Arabia gained a prominent place in the International Parliamentary Union.
