Imam Mohammed Ibn Saud Islamic University was established in the year 1974 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is one of the oldest Saudi Arabian institutes of higher education.
It has been accredited by the ministry of Higher Education, Saudi Arabia. It is one of the eight Islamic universities in Saudi Arabia that offers doctoral, graduate, post graduate, under graduate degrees in arts, sciences and Islamic studies. The bachelor's degree course is offered in areas like art and humanities, science and technology and business and social science.
The scientific institute of Riyadh, set up in the year 1950, constituted the base of Imam Mohammed Ibn Saud University. There were many colleges and educational institutes in Riyadh that functioned under this university. In the Riyadh campus, modern methods of education are followed.

The university of Imam Mohammed Ibn Saud, Riyadh, has greatly developed over the years. Earlier this university comprised mainly students residing in Riyadh itself. But gradually people from different places outside Riyadh enrolled themselves at this university. Because of this, Imam Mohammed Ibn Saud Islamic University has set up many colleges outside Riyadh.
