The two San Marino Captains Regent are a part of the executive branch of San Marino. They are elected by the Parliament and are also the members of the Parliament. The Captains looks after the deliberations of the Congress of the state.
Captains Regent in San Marino is elected for a time period of 6 months. From 1st April to 1st October every year, the San Marino Captains Regent serves his term of office. After the completion of the term of office, a citizen has got 3 days in hand to lodge a complaint against the activities of the Captain. If he does so, legal steps will be taken against the ex-heads.
This particular system of two state heads has been taken from the Roman Republic customs. The Council of San Marino is taken as being equal to that of the Senate of Rome. The current San Marino Captains Regent are Alessandro Rossi and Alessandro Mancini.
