A 60 member legislature of San Marino is elected every five years through the general voting system. The legislature of San Marino, after being elected by general votes, elects the two Captains Regent. These Captains Regent head the Government of San Marino for a term of six months. The Human Rights have always been stressed by the San Marino Government. The death penalty was abolished from San Marino in 1965.

Any active person of San Marino, aged between 15 and 55, is entitled to join the San Marino military. San Marino has maintained cordial relation with the foreign nations. San Marino was registered as the UN member in 1992. The tourism, small-scale industries, service sectors have been extensively encouraged by the San Marino Government.
