While Savaii is the largest of Samoa Islands, Upolu holds the capital of the island group, Apia. It is the center of commerce and all other activities. The government functions are also mostly done here. Savaii is less developed compared to Upolu. But it has got other attractions.
The existence of the secluded beaches made Samoa Island even more attractive. Mt. Matavanu in the canter stands like a crown. The eruption in 1905 made people migrate to Upolu. Therefore the natural beauty of this place makes it have a different appeal than the crowded island of Upolu.
On the eastern part of the country the American Samoa is located. The capital of this region is Pago Pago located in the Tutuila Island of Samoa. In spite of being a busy place this town does not have much American features. The National Park is situated in the north side of the island. This is an ideal place for nature walk.
Ofu is one of the most beautiful Isle of Samoa in the South pacific. The jungles, razor sharp cliffs and unspoiled coral reefs only enhance the beauty of this island. Another interesting island is Tokelau. It can be accessed regularly by cargo ship. This is a very remote independent island group. It is made up of several atolls.
