The freedom of media in Samoa is very much restricted. The restriction put on the media of this small country between Hawaii and New Zealand has hampered the growth and progress of
Samoa radio along with the other forms of media like television and the press.
Politics play a major role in shaping the country's media. Samoa radio though is a significant aspect of media, has limited coverage in Samoa. The opposition parties in Samoa have little access to television and
radio in Samoa as they are under state control.
Samoan radio is owned and run by the state.
There are four radio stations in Samoa which consist of one AM and three FM. These Samoa radio stations serve approximately 178,000 radios of Samoa.
Radio of Samoa is under the Broadcasting department of the Samoan government. Four FM stations of Radio Polynesia are Magik 98 FM, K-Lite, K-Rock and Talofa FM.
