Samoa infrastructure stands on various pillars like communication sector, industrial sector, and economy of Samoa etc. Samoa infrastructure is not a well developed one and lacks efficiency. The inadequacy in the infrastructure of Samoa stems from weakness in a few sectors that supports the Samoa infrastructure.
There are three airports in Samoa. Most of the rural regions have International Direct Dial provisions. In Apia there are car rentals, taxis and public buses. But the villages and the districts have private buses. At Afulilo there is a hydro-power scheme. Another one is to be set up at Sili.
Infrastructure in Samoa lags behind in a few areas like roads, airports, electricity, water, ports and telecommunications. Power failure is a regular feature in Samoa. Telecommunications are costly and inefficient. The roads in the cities and towns are well maintained. But those in the suburbs and villages are in poor condition.
The flawed infrastructure of Samoa hampers the growth and fortification of the private sector enterprise in Samoa. State intervention in the enterprise sector has deterred the progress and rise of the private sector as most of the enterprises are state owned.
With the state concentrating on the infrastructure in Samoa, the private sector can progress and Samoa infrastructure too will undergo a major improvement.
