Treaty of Samoa



A number of Treaties of Samoa were signed and sanctioned in different years of 19th and 20th centuries. By the later segment of year 1989, a war started abruptly in the Islands of Samoa which was in cooperation overseen by the countries like Great Britain, Germany and United States of America. The Treaty of Berlin was signed in the month of December, 1899 and was ratified in February, 1900. By the means of this Treaty the western section of the Samoan Islands was conceded to Germany and was proclaimed as German Samoa till 1917 while the eastern section of Samoa was ceded to United States of America. On the month of April, year 1900, the heads of Tutuila Island and Aunu'u Island surrendered those islands to United States of America and on April, 1900 the U.S. flag was hoisted for first on Fagatogo.After that the document formally prepared for the American Samoa territory was read. The Treaty between Samoa and Germany concluded to found a ‘naval station’ in the Saluafata Harbor. After 1917 German Samoa became popular in the name of Western Samoa.

By the another Treaty with Great Britain the islands of Samoa was talked terms which suggested Malietoa Alavou would become the king of Samoa and Malietoa Laupepa, would be the vice-king. It was also decided by the treaty that Malietoa Laupepa would come after his uncle on the throne of Samoa. That time all the flags were removed and a new flag was acquired to confirm the concord of the islands of Samoa.
