Samoa history dates back to the time when people from Fiji and other islands came here and settled down. This
history of the native people of
Samoa can date back to almost 3500 years ago. Before the discovery of the Dutch of these beautiful islands of
Samoa, there had been almost eight hundreds years of
history of the
Samoan people. When these islands were discovered by the Dutch in the year 1722, a new phase in the history of
Samoa began. With this discovery and the coming of the Christian missionary in these islands,
Samoa gradually came into contact with the outside world.
Samoa was exposed to the world with the
American activities also. Some part of this island country became a part of US with the Deed of Cession in 1900. During the World War II,
America established one of its naval bases here and also roads, airstrips and docks were made here. All these have deep influence in the history of
Samoa.
