Imena is a popular musical group of Rwanda based in the capital city of Kigali. The most important focus area of Imena are the under privileged children of the country and most of their performances are based on them. The music of Imena projects the strong tradition of the country and their music carries a special feel of it.
Imena and its music revolve around perfect rhythm and melody which is quite evident in their wonderful music shows. The music of Imena voices the various problems which surrounds the youth of Rwanda. After the tragic genocide of Rwanda which occurred in the year 1994, the Imena group realized the importance of spreading the message of peace and unity in the country and their music abides by that idealism.
Imena was deeply moved and felt greatly for the suffering people of the country who were going through a period of social and mental unrest. Imena wanted to stamp their authority on the social parameters through their music and popularize it by participating in various kinds of shows.
Imena wanted to influence the youth of the country through their music and their music became a source of education for them.
Imena has performed in different musical festivals in the various parts of Africa, Germany, Spain and France. The music of Imena has been influenced by the Congo, the reggae and the Caribbean zouk.
