Human Rights Watch Rwanda

Human Rights Watch is an international organization that reports against the violation of human rights all over the world. It is an American organization with headquarters in New York City. In Rwanda, a country devastated by the genocide in 1994, Human Rights Watch had a research done in order to know about the violation of human rights there as set by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Human Rights Watch report on Rwanda brings forth some naked truths that makes us ashamed as a human being.

According to the Human Rights Watch report, The Minister of Defense who is responsible for the international as well as the civilian security is not always able to maintain complete control over the security forces as some of their members are accused of committing serious human right abuses. The government's human right records were not satisfactory. The citizens' democratic right of changing the government were subdued. The Local Defense Forces are condemned for illicit murders. It was reported that a group of murderers killed the 1994 genocide witnesses in an organized manner. It proves that they were backed by some strong political support.

The condition of the prisoners in Rwanda jails are awful. The opposition supporters are often arrested without any specific reason. The medical team is not strong enough in the Rwanda prisons which is a threat to the life of the prisoners. The prolonged period of trial slows down the pace of the judicial system. The refugees were hassled by the Government as they were not willing to leave the country. Besides, the problem of child labors and unfair social treatment to women are only increasing these days. Thus the Human Rights Watch report on Rwanda reflects the fate of a poor country ruffled by their internal disharmony and repeated mass killings.
