Rwanda holocaust started in the year 1994. Rwanda holocaust has been the most atrocious holocaust in the history of African countries. Rwanda was completely destroyed in this holocaust.
In Rwanda from the beginning there have been three major groups namely Tutsi,Twa and Hutu. The holocaust was a result of the racial attitude of the colonial rule there. The Belgian rule in Rwanda from the beginning created differences between Hutu and Tutsi tribes. It created the background for the Rwanda holocaust. The hidden angst finally erupted in the 1994 holocaust when Tutsi tribes were brutally massacred by Hutu tribes.
The holocaust in Rwanda was carried out by two extremist group of Hutu militia namely Interahamwe and Impuzamugambi. The estimated death toll is considered to be between 800,000 and 1,000,000. Thousands of Tutsi people hid in churches with the help of priests but were slaughtered brutally by Hutu militia. The churches were demolished along with people using bulldozers, bombs and grenades. Out of thousands only 5 or 6 persons survived. Those who tried to help Tutsi were also atrociously killed. The holocaust of Rwanda destroyed its economy, infrastructure and resources. This brutal holocaust was put to an end by a Tutsi group named Rwandan Patriotic Front when it seized power from the then Hutu government. Finally peace was restored in Rwanda.
In the Rwanda holocaust the local media incited more slaughter of Tutsi tribes by broadcasting volatile matter while the global media remained silent spectators. Western counties refused to provide any help to Rwanda calling the holocaust entirely its internal matter. Only Canada led UN peacekeeping mission there. Rwanda is still recovering from the effects of this holocaust which has given birth to many of its current problems.
