Kibungo city in Rwanda is located in the eastern part of the country.
Kibungo city is located just in the centre part of the
Kibungo District. The
city of Kibungo is located 100km far from Kigali which is the current capital city of the Rwanda country. Prior to the administrative reform
Kibungo city was situated in the south-eastern province of Rwanda. In 2006, after the administrative reform of
Rwanda, Kibungo city has become the part of the Eastern Province of this country. Prior to the administrative reform of
Rwanda, Kibungo city was the capital of a province called Kibungo.
Kibungo province is popular in the whole world for its banana production. According to the 2002 census the total population of the
Kibungo province was approximately 43,582. Kibungo province includes 43,582 square kilometers of total land areas.
