The Gatsibo is a district of Rwanda lying in the eastern province. The centre of the district is Kabarore, which is approximately halfway in between the places of Kayonza and Nyagatare. In the recent problem of refugees from Tanzania, settlement camps were held in various places to accommodate these refugees. A settlement camp was also built in the Gatsibo region of Rwanda district. According to the LWF statistics, 88 refugees were women along with 138 children and 11 elder persons. The district Gatsibo became the shelter of 100 of refugees. The LWF organization has been working relentlessly to rehabilitate and resettles these refugees through two important projects like Kibungo Integrated Rural Development Project and IRDP project. The Gatsibo resettlement site provided an accommodation for 120 families.
The Gatsibo region lies in the eastern province of the Rwanda. It is one of the most important districts of Rwanda among the other seven districts.
