Russian Musical Society, RMS was established in the 1859. It is said that the Grand Duchess Elena Pavlovna along with her composer and pianist Anton Rubinstein founded this musical institution in order to improvise the music quality. The primary goal of this organization is to encourage the study as well as musical performance in Russia.
In November, 1859 the Russian Musical Society organized their concert for the first time. In this program Rubinstein played his piano concertos. There is no doubt in the fact that this musical society has a lot of contribution the in the field of Russian music.
While talking about the Musical Society of Russia it should be mentioned that this organization also organizes music classes, which are open to all. If someone is interested to make himself fit for the professional music world he should definitely attend the classes that are provided by the Russian music institute. Added to this a free music school was also founded in order to encourage choral singing.
Before RMS there were no school in Russia that provided professional music training. Usually in the classical concerts of the Russian Musical Society the foreign musicians (mainly the Germans) used to perform.
