Music of Russian Federation reflects the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the nation. Some of the types of Music of Russian Federation include Russian Church Music, Russian Opera, Russian folk songs and so on.

As there are plenty of ethnic groups, Russia is experiencing a hybrid culture. Here people belonging to different ethnic groups are showing their originality through the folk music. Particularly during the 19th century a conflict took place between Mikhail Glinka, a classical composer and his followers. This greatly affected the music of Russia. The the followers of this great personality introduced folk and religious elements in their compositions.

Again on the 20th century, the Romantic tradition of Tchaikovsky came into lime light. During this period the composers who acquired world-wide fame were Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, Scriabin, Stravinsky, Shostakovich and so on.

On the other hand, in the Soviet Era, the nation's music underwent several examinations and was confined within a restricted boundary. In this era several great personalities showed their artistic brilliance, among them some are David Oistrakh and Gidon Kremer, the violinists; Mstislav Rostropovich, the cellist; Galina Vishnevskaya, the vocalist; Emil Gilels and Sviatoslav Richter, the pianists and so on. Since a long time Russia is acquiring a huge fame for producing quality music.
