Boris Pasternak was a famous Russian poet who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in1958 for his outstanding works. He was born in Moscow in the year 1890. His father Leonid Pasternak was a great painter while his mother was a renowned pianist. Boris Pasternak studied at the Moscow University and graduated in the year 1913. In the same year his first poetry was also published. He was a student at the University of Marburg with philosophy as his subject.
During his visit to Italy he was highly influenced by the Scryabin’s music which made him study composition for six years. On returning to Russia he devoted himself in writing great literary works. The book “My Sister’s Life” contains excellent lyrics that were written by the poet in 1917. Pasternak’s lyrics were wonderfully written and as a result he was recognized as one of the renowned poets of his time.
The most important literary work of Boris Pasternak is the novel “Doctor Zhivago” which has been written in two volumes. This work fetched him the Nobel award. The other works of Pasternak include Detstvo Lyuvers, Leytenant Shmidt, Vozdushnye puti, Devyatsot pyaty god, Vysokaya bolezn, Vtoroye rozhdenie, Okhrannaya gramota, Na rannikh poyezdakh and many more.
