The Russian Federal Space Agency is an independent authority exercising executive powers. The Russian Space Agency looks to the implementation of the space policy guidelines formulated by the government of Russia. The organization earned the status of autonomous authority in the year 1992 on 30th September. The Russian Space Agency also coordinates and governs the implementation of the Federal Space programs and deals with space infrastructures.
Russian Federal Space Agency under the guidance of Yury N. Koptev, became Russia's export branch in the space industry. However General Anatoly Perminov is the head of the agency. The Russian Federal Space Agency is also a member of the International Space Station thus promoting Russia as one of the permanent members of the organization. The Russian Space Agency works in relation with other space agencies like NASA, NASDA, ESA and the Canadian Space Agency.
However there were some changes made by the government of Russia. As per the reforms, the Russian Federal Space Agency will report directly to the Russian government like the other 28 Federal agencies of Russia. The organization is now independent of negotiating and signing contracts with foreign partners. The organization is also capable of solving space related problems, issuing licenses for space activities. The organization can also draft government resolutions on launching Russian and foreign spacecrafts.
The Russian Federal Space Agency not only works for improving space activities in coordination with the other international space agencies but also contributes to the Russian Federation Science and Technology.
