HIV/AIDS in Russian Federation is one of the biggest health problems in the country. Presently it is a great threat to the young generation. Russian Federation HIV/AIDS is the fastest growing epidemics. Health in Russian Federation is truly affected by the disease.
Everyday there are about 100 new cases of HIV/AIDS being registered in Russia. It is calculated that about 1.2% of adults are HIV infected. 80% of the infected people are in the age group of 15-30 years. 43% of the new registered cases are women in their childbearing stage.
It is known that the virus of HIV spreads through blood transfusion, unprotected sex, using same needle, which has been used by an HIV infected person and birth of an individual, whose mother is a carrier of the virus. Taking drugs is a common activity among the youngsters of Russia. Thus the chances of youngsters getting affected are high, as they mostly use the same needle.
Government is making the best effort to get away with the stigma attached to HIV/AIDS in Russian Federation. Though the disease was detected in Russia first in the year of 1988, it has been spreading quite unevenly. However there are necessary measures to be taken by an HIV infected pregnant lady to avoid the disease to get transferred to her child. Children, who have HIV/AIDS in Russian Federation, need extra care, protection and support for a healthy growth and development.
