People are becoming more conscious about health in Russian Federation.1.42 million births were recorded in the year 1999. From 2002 onwards, the crude birth rate was recorded as 9.7 and the overall mortality rate was calculated 13.9 per 1,000 people. In 2000, infant mortality was 16 per 1,000 people and the average life expectancy was recorded as 65 years. During this period the total fertility rate was 1.3 children per woman throughout the duration of her child bearing years.

Researches have shown that cardiovascular diseases and AIDS are the major illnesses that have killed millions of people in Russian Federation. 1.23 million people died due to cardiovascular diseases in 1994 . During 1999, the number of people affected with HIV/AIDS was recorded as 130,000 and 850 people died suffereing from AIDS. The health care system of Russian Federation has been consistently involved in the treatment of these diseases.
