Ural Mountains are basically the mountain range that is standing in the Western part of Russia. It creates the border line between Asia and Europe. Ural Mountains are also known as the Urals, Ural or Russian Uralsky Khrebet.
It is believed that Urals got its name from the Uralian tribe who used to reside in the northern part of Asia. However, there is also another explanation, according to which the word Ural belongs to Turkic origin. According to the later explanation Ural means a stone-made belt.
The mount Ural is mainly divided into five regions, such as Middle, North, South, Subarctic and Arctic Urals. It is said that Urals are one oldest mountain ranges in the world. It is approximately around 300 million years old. It is assumed that Ural Mountains were formed during the late Carboniferous period. Among its deposits, the most remarkable alleviations include coal, gold, platinum, iron, nickel, silver and some other minerals.
In the true sense, Ural Mountains are the core of Eurasia. The polar portion of it is occupied by tundra, whereas in the northern part there is a hilly treeless range. The tallest peaks of Telpos-Iz and Naroda is located in this part.
