Seliger Lake is a part of the Tver Oblast and lies in the extreme northern part of Novgorod Oblast of Russia. Seliger Lake is located about 360km from Moscow and is one of the popular tourist destinations. Seliger Lake is situated in the Valdai Hills region which has many glacial moraines rising up to 340 meters. One can even find many glacial lakes in this region, out of which Seliger Lake is one of the largest ones. It is one of the ideal places for a short vacation trip and is one of the most picturesque lakes.
Pine and birch trees cover huge areas of the Seliger Lake and these trees spread out over kilometers nearby the lake region. The air around the lake is absolutely fresh and pure. Lake Seliger is one of the favorite places meant for swimming, boating, hunting, camping, berry picking and other interesting activities. The Seliger Lake is one of the preferred locations for people who love fishing as about thirty different varieties of fishes like pike, zander and others can be caught at this lake.
Hunting is also allowed in the nearby forests which lie next to the Lake Seliger but special permission needs to be acquired for hunting. There are many wild animals like boars, bears, elk, foxes and other animals which can be found in these forests.
Seliger Lake also has many churches and monasteries nearby which are also extremely popular as tourist spots.
