St. Petersburg State Medical Academy is the oldest and leading medical institutes in Russia. This university of Russia had its birth more than hundred years ago and is the first medical institute for women. The medical institute is famous throughout the world.
Being one of the eminent universities of Russia, the St. Petersburg State Medical Academy was established in the year 1907 by V.M. Behterevym. This Russian university started with the legal medical and pedagogical faculties. In 1920 the medical institute increased its faculty members and the institute was transformed into n independent high school. The institute was renamed as the 2 Leningrad medical institute finally earning the name of St. Petersburg State Medical Academy in the year 1994.
The medical institute stands over an area of 35,000 square meters encompassing 50 buildings. The faculty is divided into seven categories and they are the maximum, sisterly formation, medico preventive, medical, foreign pupils, improvements of doctors and lastly the training department for teachers. St. Petersburg State Medical Institute organizes special training centers for the doctors and economy experts to educate them about the latest changes in the medical field.
The qualified students are awarded with the degree of 'Doctor of Medicine'. The St. Petersburg State Medical Academy is enclosed in the World Health Organization directory and is recognized by the medical institutions of countries like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Ireland and many other countries.
