Rugby World Cup Venue - Paris, France

Paris, the capital city of France houses a stadium known as Parc des Princes that is well known for hosting many important events. Designed by architect Roger Taillibert, the stadium was opened in June 1972. Before turning into a major sports venue it was a woodland park kept aside for the recreational activities of princes.

Parc des Princes is now getting ready to host the 2007 Rugby World Cup . It will be the venue for some of the crucial rugby matches such as Rugby World Cup Pool A matches between South Africa and Samoa and England and Tonga. The Rugby World Cup Pool C match between Italy and Repechage 1 and Rugby World Cup Pool D match between Ireland and Argentina. The loser's final match for winning the Bronze medal will also be held in Parc des Princes Paris.

With a capacity to hold 48,527 spectators, the stadium has hosted many important events such as 1984 European Championship final, final of the inaugural Rugby League World Cup in 1954 and Soccer World Cup matches in 1938 and 1998. Located in the capital city, the stadium can be accessed by plane, train, metro, car and bus. Aéroport d'Orly is the main airport that serves the city. The stadium that belongs to the Paris-Saint-Germain club, has been replaced by the Stade de France as the home for international sports matches since November 1997.
