Edinburgh is all set to host the 2007 Rugby World Cup. The Murrayfield Stadium erected in 1925 will be the venue of the Pool C matches between Scotland and Romania and Scotland and New Zealand. Located in the west-end of Edinburgh near the Edinburgh Zoo. The stadium named after the area of Edinburgh where it is located, is near to the Haymarket railway station that is only 20-minutes away from it.
Murrayfield is now used for Scottish international rugby union matches, with Scotland's Six Nations home games are played here. Beginning in 2007, Murrayfield will host the Scotland Sevens, the final event in the annual IRB Sevens World Series in rugby sevens. Murrayfield will host rugby matches from the Rugby World Cup 2007. The stadium has also been used to host the Heineken Cup Final, being the venue for the 2004-05 final where Toulouse beat Stade Français by 18 points to 12. This stadium was erected at the site of the Edinburgh Polo Club, which was once the rugby stadium with the largest capacity in the world that could hold 104,000 spectators. Murrayfield was renovated and was given a new face in 1994. Rugby Matches were given importance in the city after the erection of the Murrayfield Stadium.
