2007 Rugby World Cup Venues

The 2007 Rugby World Cup will be held at the 12 grounds in France. Most of these grounds has their own history and are considered real monuments. All the venues are renovated in such a way that it provides comfort and visibility to the thousands of spectators expected to arrive here.

The 12 venues in France include Chaban-Delmas in Bordeaux, Millenium Stadium in Cardiff, Murrayfield in Edinburg, Felix-Bollaert in Lens, Gerland in Lyons, Velodrome in Marseilles, La Mosson in Mountpellier, La Beaujoire in Nantes, Parc des Princes in Paris, Stade de France in Saint-Denis, Geoffroy Guichard in Saint-Etinne and Stadium de Toulouse in Toulouse. The seating capacity of the grounds that stage the final phase matches is 60-80,000. The average capacity of a stadium is 50,000.

Chaban-Delmas Stadium in Bordeaux named after the city's Mayor, was inaugurated in 1938. It has a capacity to hold 50,000 spectators.

The Millenium Stadium in Cardiff with a seating capacity of 72, 500 was opened in 1999 and is the newest in the country. The stadium has hosted many matches including 1999 Rugby World Cup, which saw the victory of Australia against France in the final. The English FA Cup soccer finals were also held here and this has given a major upliftment to the stadium.

The Murrayfield in Edinburg having a seating capacity of 67,500 is near to the Edinburg airport that provides easy access to the visitors. Erected in 1925, the stadium is the oldest in France.

The Felix-Bolleart stadium in Lens was built in 1932. The stadium that can hold 41,500 spectators has hosted the European Nations championship in 1984 and the Soccer World Cup in 1998.
