Making an entry into Rugby World Cup in the year 2003, this year's Rugby World Cup in France will be Georgia's second appearance in the tournament. Rugby analysts have it that Georgia's competitive edge will be a few of its players in the 30 member team who have been trained in France. Rugby rules of the land, it has to be therefore inferred, will be familiar to this team which is otherwise counted among the lower ranks.
Lelos, the name used to represent Georgian Rugby Team, has its origin in the name of a similar game played indigenously in Georgia. Coached by Malkhaz Tcheishvili and captained by Ilia Zedginidze, the Georgian team sports 13 members with World Cup experience.
