Traditionally the Scottish team used to wear blue shirts, white shorts and navy blue socks. However, in their latest design they are sporting blue shorts in place of white shorts. This time their uniform has been manufactured by Canterbury of New Zealand. Presently, Scotland is sponsored by a scotch whiskey company named The Famous Grouse. Therefore, the national team's shirt has the logo of the sponsor on the left hand side of the chest.
As promotion of liquor is legally banned in France, the letters TFG replace the logo on the shirt. Scotland also uses striped shirts during their home matches. This is because the visiting sides normally don dark colored uniforms which clash with the blue of the Scottish team. On these occasions they don white shirts with strips of blue on it. When Cotton Oxford was the team sponsor, Scotland team's shirt was orange in color with orange and blue hoops on the sleeves. They also used purple during the sponsorship period with Cotton Oxford.
The present Scottish rugby team's shirts are made from temex polycotton, which is a mixture of polyester and cotton. The shirts have cotton drill collar with loop neck and is sewn with panels and coverstitching detail.
