The Six Nations Championship was first played in 1882, making it the oldest rugby championship in the world. In the beginning England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland took part as they were part of the British Empire. France joined in 1910 while Italy became the sixth team in 2000.
Scotland's national rugby team dons blue shirts, blue shorts and navy blue socks. Earlier they used to wear blue shirts, white shorts and navy blue socks but with Canterbury becoming their sponsor their dress has changed.
The Wales national rugby team sports a red shirt, white shorts and red socks. Sometimes they also wear steel colored shirts with dark grey flashes . Their dress is manufactured by Reebok presently.
The English team dress consists of white shirts, white shorts and navy blue socks with white tops. They have a red rose on their shirts which is their emblem. The shirt is sponsored by O2 and is made by Nike.
The Irish national rugby team members wear olive green shirts on the pitch. They also have an alternate attire which is a combination of green and white.
The French national rugby side sports a blue shirt with a rooster on its chest. They are popularly known as the Les Blues.
The Italian national rugby team is known as the Azurris. They also sport a blue shirt which has the national emblem on it. They also have a white shirt which they wear on some occasions.
