Brian Williams, or Brian Richard Williams, was a major player in the Welsh national rugby union squad. In spite of having a light build, this six feet one inch player played at the position of a prop. He took up rugby at a comparatively early age and started his career at the Ysgol y Preseli, Narberth RFC and Pembrokeshire RFC. He also played for the Neath RFC and was quite successful in that team. He had an atmosphere conducive to rugby at his house with his two brothers also being proficient players of the sport.
Brian Williams had a first class career spanning over 16 long years which began in the year 1983. He also got selected for the Wales national squad and made his debut on 3rd March, 1990 when his former coach at Neath RFC, Ron Waldron, had taken over as the coach of the Welsh national rugby union squad. Brian Williams played five international matches before a tragic and premature death. He is still remembered as one of the best players to have taken the rugby pitch for the Welsh national rugby union squad.
