Albert Anderson was one the major locks for the
Canterbury Rugby Union team in the 1980s. He had also made an entry into the main
New Zealand All Black team and had a successful stint there. His promising career had a commendable start when he had been playing for the
New Zealand colts and had regular share of success there. There he had Gary Whetton by his side who continued to accompany him even in the
All Black squad.
Albert Anderson did not have a very promising career in the international stage of rugby. However, in his stint for Canterbury which continued for more than a decade, he was flooded with success. He played as many as 143 games for the province of Canterbury since his joining the team in 1980. He gave the province almost all the unachieved glories and is still regarded as one of the best locks to have ever appeared for the team.
