The city of Sovata is located in Mures Country in Transylvania in the European country of Romania. Transylvania is located in the central region of Romania. The local name of Sovata is Szovata.

The city of Sovata in Romania is renowned for its warm heliothermal lake. The place is a health resort frequented by both Romanians and also by foreigners visiting this region of Romania. The warm water of the lake promotes a relaxing atmosphere. The lake is supposed to have therapeutic powers. Bear Lake is the principal salty heliothermal water body. There are four other salty warm lakes. The four lakes are Red lake, Black lake, Green Lake and Nut Lake.

The city of Sovata is an aggregation of three Romanian villages. The three Romanian villages are Illyesmezo, Szakadat, and Kopacs. All three villages are administered by a common governing authority. The area around the city is very beautiful. The resort city of Sovata is situated on the southwestern slope of the Gurghiu Mountains. Sovata in Romania is situated at an altitude of 530 meters above sea level. The central part of the town is placed at the Praid depression. The city could be accessed from other principal towns of the region by the 13A main road.
