The Covasna brook demarcates the city in an east-north direction. The city administration has incorporated one village into the administrative structure of the city. The name of the village is Chiurus. Covasna is situated at an altitude of approximately 600 meters above sea level. The settlement has a population of approximately 12,000 inhabitants.

Covasna is famous for the therapeutic qualities of its mineral water. The small city is situated on the southern corner of the upper-Haromszek Basin.
