Flood Safety

The most important part about Flood Safety is to stay at an elevated position well above the ground level. This works in case the place you live in is already flooded or there are chances that it will be flooded in the time to come. For that, of course, you need to be aware of the weather conditions of your region. If there is continuous rainfall for a log period of time and there is water body near your house which has chance of overflowing, then it is better that you take all the Flood Safety Measures beforehand. In such a situation there is all possibility that the place you stay in might get hit by sudden Floods .

Here are some of the important steps, which you must follow to be safe in case the region is hit by floods:

  • Stay as far as possible from flooded regions.
  • If you come close to flooded region then make sure that stay at a place well above the flooded ground and don't try to swim across. The speed of the water might increase without a warning.
  • Avoid staying inside a vehicle if the region is flooded. It is safer to get out of it
  • Stay safe from snakes and other poisonous water insects

Since floods are most common during the monsoon season in the countries, which get most amount rainfall during this season, it is best to develop a plan to save the families from getting affected by flood. Many countries have a flood safety plan ready and have successfully implemented them too. Floods remain one of the most dreaded Weather-related disasters till date.
