Summer


Summer is one of the seasons of a year which is the warmest. It falls between the seasons of spring and autumn.

Duration of Summer:

In the Northern Hemisphere, summer commences in the month of June and ends in September. In case of the Southern Hemisphere, summer starts in the month of December and gets over in March. Traditionally according to meteorology the Northern Hemisphere experiences summer for the entire months of June, July and August. For the Southern Hemisphere the months are December, January and February. Conventionally the start of the summer month is declared in many countries. For instance, Ireland considers the date to be 1stMay, for some it is 1st June and for many countries it is 1st July. Summer starts early for the countries that lie on the coastal areas, whereas the more continental countries have late summers.

Characteristics of Summer :

Summer is generally known to be the season which has the hottest and longest days in a year. The summer nights are usually smaller than those of winter. It is a very good season for outdoor activities like vacationing, swimming or simply lazing on the beach. Various tropical summer fruits like pineapples, watermelons, mangoes, berries, melons, and vegetables are abundant in summer.








Summer in Some Parts of the World:

The southeastern and southern parts of Asia have very wet summers where it spans from March to June. Arrival of the Monsoons marks the end of summer. In a majority of countries, the summer vacations commence from the middle of May. In Australia it begins prior to Christmas.






Summer gets varied receptions in different parts of the world, where in some places it is pleasant while in other parts it is extremely harsh.
