The Weather Instruments are used to measure and predict the climatic conditions of the various places of the earth on the forthcoming days. The meteorologists collect data of the climatic conditions of the previous days, does a thorough study on them, and them predicts the weather. These data are collected through various Weather Instruments that have been manufactured with modern technologies.
The forecast largely depends upon the Weather Instruments being used. The advancement in technologies has helped the meteorologists to provide a more accurate prediction.
The main Weather Instruments that are used for Weather Forecast are:
- Thermometer: This is required for measuring air temperature. These are a closed glass tube that contains alcohol or mercury. The temperature is measured when the air around the tube gets warmer thus heating up the liquid inside. The liquid then expands and the scale shows the actual temperature.
- Barometer: This Weather Instrument is used for measuring the air pressure.
- Sling Psychrometer: This is required for measuring the relative humidity, by using the cooling effect of evaporation. There are two thermometers in a sling psychrometer.
- Rain Gauge: The amount of rainfall is measured through Rain Gauge.
- Wind Vane: This weather instrument helps for finding the direction of the wind.
- Anemometer: The meteorologists also need to find the speed of the wind. There are cups in this instrument that catches the wind, thus turning a dial attached to the anemometer. The dial then shows the speed of the wind.
- Weather Maps: The Weather Maps are absolutely necessary to forecast the weather as it shows the atmospheric conditions above the earth surface.
