Weather Forecasting is the science of predicting the temperature and state of atmosphere of a given location in the forthcoming days. The prediction of weather is done through collecting data about the atmospheric pressure belts. Through the help of modern technologies how the atmosphere will evolve in future is studied.
The Daily Weather Forecast is done by thousands of observers and meteorologists across the globe working together. The Weather Forecasting has been more accurate and faster due to the usage of modern computers. The final study of forecasting is done on the photographs of clouds that are taken from the space by weather satellites orbiting the earth.
There are various methods of Weather Forecasting:
- Persistence Forecasting: Through observing the weather, meteorologists predict that the weather will continue to remain such. Instruments such as thermometer, barometer, rain gauge, and anemometer are used for the prediction of weather. To measure the temperature of the atmosphere a radiosonde is attached to a weather balloon and left in the air.
- Synoptic Forecasting: Through this method a short term observation of the Weather Forecasting is done. The meteorologists do various calculations by watching the conditions of the cloud and thus do the predictions.
- Statistical Forecasting: The prediction is done after observation of old records of the average temperatures, rainfall, and snowfall. This gives an idea of what the weather could be at that time of the year.
- Computer forecasting: Forecasters, after their thorough observations, feed in the complicated equations in the computers. The equations are then run in the ultra-high-speed computers which give a forecast of the next several days.
