There is no doubt in the fact digital technology is the backbone of today's information industry. Since last couple of years this technology is being used widely in into our telephone, television and music systems.
History of photography has undergone several technological advances in optics, camera production and imaging. Those changes have a great social impact. Before 1970s, most of the people used slide or chrome film. During that time they used to view images with a slide projector. After that people started making prints from color negatives. But nowadays these devices seems to be backdated. In true sense this is an Internet and email era where people use computers for serving all their purposes. It is during this period when digital cameras were invented for the sake of benefiting modern people. Those digital cameras led to a rapid increase in the number of photographic images in digital formats.
In July, 2003, digital cameras entered the market and started dominating the whole market structure with the release of the Ritz Dakota Digital, it is a 1.2 mega pixel CMOS-based digital camera that cost around $11 (USD). Few years back Dakota Digital was being used by customers but in recent times consumers are seen to be using single-use digital cameras almost similar to the Dakota Digital.
The main function of this Digital Revolution is to improvise digital photography and making it more affordable. With the course of time digital cameras are becoming more and more advantageous technical machinery and by reducing the price it has helped this photography to acquire international fame. This is probably the significant change that has been brought by the Digital Revolution.
