Zoom Burst
Zoom Burst is a photographic technique that is attained with a zoom lens with the help of a manual zoom ring. The term is somewhat connected to Peter Bargh’s article on Creative Zoom Bursts technique. The technique involves zooming of the picture in the camera while the shutter is open with a relatively slower shutter speed (below 1/60th of a second).
The low light entering due to the smaller aperture helps to achieve the optimum desired effect of the image. Such Zoom Burst effect can also be brought by the help of either computer software like Adobe Photoshop or a Photographic Filters.
Photographs captured with such Zoom Burst techniques are characterized by blurred streaks emanating from its central root. It is much identical to the motion blur image where the camera apparently moves towards the subject. Hence, such feature of Zoom Burst is conducive for creating an impression of motion picture.
A Zoom Burst process is the entire result of executing slow shutter speeds with a manual zoom lens to generate outward streaks of color and light in a normal photograph. In order to use the Zoom Burst effect, one would need the Camera, with adjustable shutter and aperture, Manual adjusts zoom lens attached to the camera, and a Tripod.
