Sepia

Sepia tone offers a type of digital photo with an appearance in brown shades. The viewer can easily distinguish between a gray scale image and an image with a sepia tone. The pictures in sepia tone look very much like the images in the earlier times in a black and white mode.

A view of the sepia toned images take you back to the period when monochrome was in vogue in the world of photography. The famous photographs in sepia tone that have always moved the viewers, were the photos of Carmel by Edward Weston. The photographers use the sepia tone on some deliberate purpose. The movie stars and angels have often been filmed in sepia tone by Wim Wenders to be depicted as the characters with a lack of basic human instincts.

The movie directors use the sepia tone for various purpose. They frequently make the best use of sepia tone to indicate that the projected images are the flashbacks that happened at a much earlier period. They also use the sepia tone on few landscapes to depict that the world is fading under pressures of modernization.

The sepia can be made into effect by the capture of images in camcorders and digital cameras. The sepia tone can also be achieved in dark rooms. In the contemporary period, one can add a sepia tone to a colored image by the application of software by Adobe or Microsoft.
