Photography is the process of reproducing pictures by capturing light on a light-sensitive medium, such as a film or sensor. The sensor can either be a CMOS chip or a CCD. The wavelengths of light emitted or reflected from the photography subjects brings out an electronic medium or a sensitive chemical during the exposure through the photography lens in the basic medium of photography camera. The non digital cameras store the captured information chemically while the digital ones capture them electronically.
In Greek terminology photography is meant to be 'drawing with light'. The use of light on the photograph subject needs a meticulous study on lighting. The black and white films need a specific exposure of lights while the colored ones need a different one. There are minute details in a camera like aperture through which the lighting should be controlled. There are various other effects in photography like shadow effects that should be studied by the photographers to give their work a majestic effect.
A photographer learns about photography only after the person handles the camera. But handling a camera demands a few other knowledge on the intricate details of a camera like focus of the lens, aperture of the lens, shutter speed, white balance, ISO Speed, metering, filters and type of lens.
