Camera
A Camera is a gift of modern technology and term evolved from the Latin word Camera Obscura meaning “dark chamber”. Used for capturing images, a Camera may work with the light of the visible spectrum or with other parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. The Camera comprises of some kind of an enclosed hollow and there is an opening or aperture at one end for light to enter. For capturing the light there is a viewing surface at the other end.
At the opening of the camera there is a lens which gathers the light and helps to focus the image on the capturing surface. The Camera has now covered a long journey since its invention and the present day Camera are technologically advanced and has inbuilt equipments that has made photography easier than ever before. However, most of the Cameras, starting from the amateur equipment to the modern, mechanized tool, all have certain common parts that make up the device called Camera.
The Lens is the most prominent part of the Camera and is made up of glass or plastic. This part helps in the reproduction of the image by focusing the light that passes through it on the film.
The Diaphragm is the aperture that controls the amount of light that enters the camera thus limiting the films exposure to the light.
The Shutter also acts as a regulator that limits the exposure of the film to light. The speed of the shutter is adjustable according to the surrounding conditions and the photographic subject matter.
The body of the Camera is a hardy one as is encloses some of the most delicate parts of the device which includes the light meter, the reflex viewing system , built-in flash, the film transport system and electronic and mechanical components
