Invention of Photography

Invention of Photography is credited to the French inventor Nicéphore Niépce. The first permanent photograph was an image produced as early as 1826. The first type of photograph done was 'daguerreotype'. That technology reproduced a positive image of the real object on a highly polished metal plate. In the pre photographic age the personal and public history were recorded by painters. With the invention of photography, the people relied on photographers to make their images. But in that early period it took about eight hours for a photographer to capture an image.

Though the invention of photography deserves a contribution from Nicéphore Niépce, the photographic development started its footsteps with the aid of Louis Daguerre. Louis Daguerre created the primary reliable process for photographic development. He officially announced his progress to the French Academie des Sciences in the year 1839.

For the invention of photography Nicéphore Niépce and Louis Daguerre worked hand in hand. They made an experimentation with silver compounds depending on a Johann Heinrich Schultz discovery in 1724. Johann Heinrich Schultz had earlier proved by experimentation that a silver and chalk mixture darkens when exposed to light. After the death of Niépce in 1833, Daguerre worked on his own experimenting for the development of the 'daguerreotype' in 1839.

Other scientists like George Eastman, Hercules Florence, Talbot have contributed a lot behind the invention of photography. Without their contribution the modern day advanced photographic technology would never have been a reality.
