Night Photography
The term Night photography refers to the photographs taken during the time between the twilight and the dawn, a night photography is characterized by its outdoor location. In night photography, a photographer can opt between using artificial light or a long time exposure.
The lights that adds to the resolution of night photography are the available lights. High speed films, wide aperture lenses, higher-sensitivity digital image sensors and the lights of the city adds to the lighting that is needed to capture the subject.
During the early 20th century photographers like Alfred Stieglitz and William Fraser started working in the field of night photography. Bill Brandt and Bassai worked extensively on night photography. In the year 1932 Brassai got his book published which had photographs taken by him at night in the city of Paris. The photographs were all black and white photographs. The book is called Paris de Nuit. Brandt was another photographer who took London streets photograph during the night at the time of blackout during the world war II.
To photograph the night life one must need to have the undermentioned equipments :
A tripod is a must as there is a need of long exposure.
A shutter release cable or self timer to avoid the shaking of camera while the shutter releases.
.Manual focus is preferred over autofocus system due to low light condition.
Night photography has developed over the years and there are many contemporary night photographers who have been successful in delivering beautiful night life photographs.
